Physical exercise
Cardiovascular - or Aerobic
This form of exercise increases heart and breathing rate.
Some examples are fitness walking, jogging, cycling, swimming, group exercise, dance style aerobics, etc.
Strength/weight training
Strength/weight training, Body Building
- This is exercise that increases muscle strength, e.g. training with free weights or resistance machines.
Flexibility
These are types of exercise that improve range of motion by stretching muscles, tendons and ligaments; they improve joint function and muscular performance.
Body and Mind Exercise
Involving deep concentration, body alignment, posture and balance such as Yoga, Pilates or Tai Chi.
