Coffee a timeless ritual
Our love for coffee
There are millions of coffee lovers all around the world, many of whom feel they can't live without coffee. Starting the day, or getting through the day for that matter, is just not possible for many people unless their morning routine involves coffee. A well-known commercial informed the public for years that the best part of waking up in the morning is having coffee in your cup. Warm, aromatic, comforting and stimulating, it is no small wonder that coffee has been a favorite beverage of hundreds of individuals for centuries.
A Great Morning Choice
No longer maligned as a detriment to one's health, coffee now enjoys favor among experts for having possible health benefits. This is largely due to recent studies showing that not only is coffee not bad for people, it may be beneficial when consumed in moderation. While this is good news indeed, most consumers continued to enjoy their java regardless of what they heard on the morning news--while draining their coffee cups before work.
Breaks throughout the day would just not be the same without coffee. Who would honestly want to go on a water break? Especially the sleep deprived who actually have to stay awake on the job. Waking up and getting up is difficult at its best, but for many coffee drinkers, it would be next to impossible without their morning cup of this hot, tasty beverage.
The Role of Coffee Shops
Coffee shops have enjoyed more longevity than almost any other type of food or beverage establishment in history. In 1720, in the era of Europe's infamous South Sea Bubble venture, men congregated at their local coffee shop to discuss their hopes and woes concerning their finances. German coffee shops in the early 1900s were where anyone influential--or who desired to be influential--frequented on a daily basis. Humans are most assuredly creatures of habit, which, according to psychologists has to do with the comfort that routines provide. Coffee is also what is considered by behavioral experts to be a "comfort food." Perhaps it is this combination that draws people again and again to that daily coffee shop ritual.
Variety
One of the greatest characteristics of this popular beverage is the wide variety of flavors and roasts from which coffee lovers can choose. Whether a rich taste, such as one would find in an authentic French Roast blend, or a creamy Latte with a dash of nutmeg, there are an almost limitless number of choices when it comes to choosing a cup of java. It is for this reason many coffee shops offer the "flavor of the day," which makes that morning ritual even more enjoyable as one anticipates which flavor he or she may wake up to tomorrow. Coffee and coffee shops are certainly a part of many cultures worldwide and are likely to stay so for many years to come.
