Travel Sickness

Motion Sickness or Kinetosis

Travel sickness is also known as motion sickness or kinetosis (any disorder due to unaccustomed motion). Travel sickness can be caused by any vehicle of movement; cars, trains, planes, boats. It can also occur while on flight simulators or amusement park rides.

Causes of Travel Sickness

Travel sickness isn't fully understood, research suggests that it's caused by movements when travelling, such as tilting and shaking, which can confuse your brain. Anyone can get travel sickness and no one knows why some people are more sensitive than others.

Preventing Travel Sickness

Several steps can be taken to reduce travel sickness. Sitting in the front of the vehicle being traveled in, avoid reading, face forward, avoid alcohol and smoking, and lastly try to stay occupied and not think about it! Listen to music, watch DVD's, play games or any form of distraction.
