Betty Crocker
Do you know who Betty Crocker is?
Betty Crocker was a fictitious name created by Washburn, Crosby Co. of Minneapolis in 1921.
In 1928 there was a merger of approximately 24 flour companies (including Washburn-Crosby Company) which resulted in General Mills, Inc. The Betty Crocker name was used as a signature for letters in response to a picture puzzle competition, and adopted as a signature for responses to enquiries by General Mills in 1936, and later as a brand name for their home baking products.
It has become a household name which instantly brings to mind for many the concept of 'cooking'.
